Social media had become a powerful tool in the field or business & marketing. If you've a business no matter small or big, it is essential to have a presence on Facebook. For businesses & other professions like writers, life coaches and many more, Facebook can provide you a very good advertising.
If you've a website, Facebook can be used to draw a great traffic to your site or blog. However, this is possible because there are huge number of people using Facebook. At one time, Facebook was one of the biggest social media platforms. Not less to say, in fact it was biggest one. According to statista.com ,
As of the third quarter of 2018, Facebook had 2.27 billion monthly active users. In the third quarter of 2012, the number of active Facebook users had surpassed one billion, making it the first social network ever to do so. Active users are those which have logged in to Facebook during the last 30 days.

However, in recent years, the reputation of Facebook has gradually gone down. Whether it was data breach controversy or stealing data controversy, Facebook was criticised for it's policies & irresponsibility.
Mark Zuckerberg tried to defend facebook against allegations. Incase of stealing data, Facebook said that it's ties use data & it is not stealing as permissions are asked.
Many users stopped using Facebook & deleted their accounts. Event a hashtag movement started against facebook. It really lowered the reputation of the big giant. Also, many other social media platforms, sites & their apps. emerged better than Facebook providing great features and also having better functions & policies. Twitter regained it's power & still it's a favorite one.
Facebook has community standards & it says it always keep it's users in mind. It also claims that users security is in their top list however, in reality, Facebook has become a field of garbage of fake profiles, pages with malicious content & a place of cyber bullying, abuse & crime. You can see several indecent pages & groups. Strange thing is that when any responsible user reports such activities, Facebook always say it doesn't go against their community standards. Mostly, when reported nothing is done however, someone using Facebook in good manner can still be blocked from using any feature or using Facebook. Facebook gives clarification that it is due to it's automatic systems that detect spam or abuse or any activity that goes against community standards. Many users claimed that despite of using Facebook well, they were blocked. Also, there are still many users who never spam or abuse, they are blocked. Whatever you do on Internet is easily tracked & stored no matter what is said. Even when you delete or go incognito mode, still your actions are recorded.
Facebook is criticised for not taking action against scams & spams and just block loyal users claiming that they commented so many times & it was detected as suspicious or spam by their systems.
Well, Facebook has no clear intentions & it's policies are really confusing. The only thing you can do is that if you have a business or you're a professional, you have to use Facebook as it is still beneficial to you. If you have a website, you can use it as a traffic source. You can use it for personal use with privacy features but be careful. Even being a blogger, influencer & entrepreneur, I have a page on Facebook because honestly, it is a necessity however, personally I don't like Facebook because there is no responsible behaviour from them, there is no proper policies & even when something goes against their community standards, it is allowed while loyal users can still be blocked.
It also depends on the way the users are using any social media platform. It is a users responsibility too to use any social media platform with a positive & responsible behaviour however, this can not be an excuse for Facebook and a point to escape from it's responsibility.
Whatever we say, conclusion is that the criticism facebook has received on recent years is not wrong. The name Facebook was termed as Fakebook by many users. Facebook is good or bad ? It can be easily answered after seeing pros. & cons. Facebook need to pay attention on it's policies & functioning. Even it needs a great improvement on technical side to provide users a better experience & to be a safer place for it's users. There are so much technical drawbacks that are faced by everyday users & it is facebook's responsibility to not betray it's users. After all, because of them facebook is facebook.
